DIGITAL AD SPECIFICATIONS

The Prince George and North Central BC Buy & Sell is 100% paginated. This requires all advertising files to be in a format compatible with QuarkXPress on Macintosh computers. We can no longer 'cut and paste' content for the paper. All materials not submitted electronically must be scanned producing a 'second generation' image.

The following guidelines must be followed to ensure timely and quality reproduction of digital material. The Buy & Sell cannot be held responsible for errors, omissions, or missed ads as a result of technological incompatibilities. • All custom colours must be specified and defined as process CMYK colours.

• Images used within ads cannot be compressed. (jpg, lzw, etc)

• Only Type 1 fonts should be used. Other types: Multiple Master, Opentype, and GX fonts can NOT be used. Some Truetype fonts cause problems and require a testing period.

• Laser printed proofs must accompany submitted material by mail or fax to your representative.

• For best results and optimal file size, keep color and grayscale images between 120 and 180 lpi. Line-art and bitmap images between 400 and 800 dpi.

• The preferred file format is PDF. For best results create a postscript file and distill using Acrobat Distiller. Visit Adobe's website for detailed information on Adobe Acrobat

ELECTRONIC AD DELIVERY

Advertising material can be submitted a number of different ways. An initial testing period of 1 week is required for any electronically submitted ads. Following are the methods and portable media supported. Be sure to fax a proof copy to your sales representative and indicate which method you will be using.

FTP: (file transfer protocol) is the most reliable method. Contact a sales representative to obtain the login information. by calling (250) 562-9100

Your total e-mail message cannot exceed 5 MB. If it is larger than 5 MB send via FTP. All files need to be COMPRESSED into a single file and attached to your e-mail message. Only the ad name should appear in the subject field of the email message. A technical contact name must be in the body of the message and include a phone number. E-mail messages, as a rule, are not read unless there is a technical problem; therefore, please fax or phone your sales representative directly with specific instructions or requests.

DISK: Please print your company name and return address on the disc and include a proof of the ad with all digital material submitted. We accept the following: 3.5" Floppy / 3.5" Optical Disk / 100MB Zip Disk / 1GB Jaz Disk / 5.25" SyQuest (88MB) / CD-Rom
